A Bouncer At A Private Saloon Discovers Why Alcohol Overdose Signs And Symptoms Can Save A Drinker's Life
Just a few days ago, Ryan applied for a job as a bouncer at one of the local nightspots. He had studied aikido, gatka, ninjitsu, judo, and karate for five years; he was a personal trainer; he took daily minerals, vitamins, and supplements; he was into healthy eating and health foods; and he seemed well matched for such a position. When Ryan received notice that he had been selected for the job, he was exceedingly delighted. Due to the fact that this was an elite disco, nevertheless, he had to go through a six week training class.
On the first day of class, the instructor started talking about people who drink in an excessive manner and what the bouncers, barmaids, and bartenders should do when this state of affairs arises. When the lecturer started speaking about alcohol poisoning, Ryan was pleased to learn that all of the new workers had to learn about alcohol poisoning and what they should do when they saw a drinker who was manifesting alcohol poisoning symptoms or manifesting the signs of alcohol overdose.
More directly, all the new bartenders, bouncers, and barmaids learned that nausea and vomiting were almost always one of the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was almost certainly the most highly obvious alcohol overdose sign or symptom. The lecturer also made it a point to highlight the fact that alcohol poisoning symptoms were messages from the brain and from the body that the individual had ingested more alcohol than his or her body can process.
There were, nonetheless, quite a few other signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning that all the new workers were taught to recognize. For example, the members in the class were made aware that individuals who suffer from alcohol poisoning often have seizures, are difficult to awaken, exhibit confusion, and they exhibit poor reflex responses.
Furthermore, the members of the class learned that many people who have alcohol poisoning also manifest slurred speech; blue tinged or pale skin; little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching; and slow, shallow or irregular breathing.
To emphasize the bearing that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the instructor explained to the members in the class that a person who gets inebriated just once on an annual basis is, by definition, involving himself or herself in abusive drinking. Such an individual, however, is probably not alcohol addicted, but is more likely than not engaging in binge drinking. As articulated by the teacher, engaging in binge drinking even one time, sadly, can lead to an alcohol overdose that in extreme circumstances can be fatal.
The teacher then told the students in the class that the most appropriate response for an alcohol overdose is the following: if it is assumed that a drinker is suffering from an alcohol overdose, call 911 and ask for emergency medical assistance, even if the individual is underage. By following this course of action, the drinker will get the prompt alcohol poisoning treatment she or he requires.
After learning about alcohol poisoning and particularly about the symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning, it can be emphasized, Ryan felt that he had learned some important information that might save a person's life in the future. In actual fact, Ryan learned that knowledge of the familiar alcohol poisoning symptoms and signs and knowing how to quickly and appropriately respond to such signs and symptoms (by immediately calling 911 and asking for urgent medical assistance) can help a drinker avoid a fatal case of alcohol poisoning.
