A Married Couple Gets Concerned About Their Heavy Drinking And Contemplates Whether They Exhibit Any Signs Of Alcohol Addiction
Angie and Lenny have been married for five years. They wanted to have some excitement and fun before they decided to have children and so they by design developed an incredibly exciting social life.
The primary issue, it needs to be emphasized, is that almost everything they do socially is related to drinking. As an illustration, all of the sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, dinner engagements, and happy hours they frequent are associated with drinking.
If they were infrequent drinkers this wouldn't be a big issue. Due to the fact they drink quite excessively, however, they are beginning to perceive some definite alcohol-related issues in their lives.
As an illustration, just a week ago Lenny was arrested for a second DUI and has been calling off from work because of alcohol-related health issues. Not only this, but Lenny's last two performance evaluations at his place of employment have been less than passable and he has started to fail to remember what he does or says while he drinks. Lastly, Lenny has been having sleep-related problems and his family is starting to get nervous about his drinking difficulties.
Not unlike Lenny's situation, Angie has been feeling dejected about life and to deal with this, she has been drinking more regularly than any time in the past eleven months. What is more, Angie has been experiencing quite a few painful migraines and having dreadful hangovers from drinking. Finally, Angie has been feeling significantly less active when she awakens in the morning, she has been showing up late for work, and she has been receiving some unkind criticism from her coworkers, friends, relatives, and family members about her excessive and hazardous drinking.
One Wednesday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie accidentally found a captivating documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This television documentary was a real shock to Lenny and Angie because several of the alcohol facts that were listed seemed like they were unshakably linked to more than a few of the drinking problems Angie and Lenny had been suffering through.
With thoughts of the TV special still running through her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been displaying could be a warning that they are alcohol dependent or conceivably becoming dependent on alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's inquiry and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the healthcare professionals at the local drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation center to find out more about the severity of their drinking circumstances.
Strangely enough, even though their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was obvious that Angie and Lenny were at the very least facing their drinking problems, they were ready to find out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in finding out how they could substantially lessen or eliminate the alcohol-related issues that had begun to escalate.
When Lenny and Angie went to bed that night, they determined that the next morning, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol abuse treatment facility located just South of the State Capital. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to conquer the drinking issues that had emerged in their lives, they in point of fact had the most refreshing night's sleep they could remember in the last seven months.
