A Youth Challenges Her Drinking Buddies To Dig Up More Information About Alcoholism And Alcohol Abuse

Heather drank quite often and quite a lot with her buddies. One Thursday after all her classes were completed, she began thinking about her drinking behavior and the careless and irresponsible drinking of her classmates. As a consequence of this, she asked all of her buddies the following question: "what do we honestly know about binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, alcoholism, and alcohol abuse? In other words, how much alcoholism and alcohol abuse information do we really know? For our young age, we surely drink in an excessive and hazardous manner and I am starting to wonder if we are headed for a life filled with alcohol-associated problems down the road.

I believe that we need to go on the Internet and discover all that is possible about alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, alcohol abuse, and alcoholism. And then if we have any relevant issues that we do not comprehend after we complete our online research, we can take a hike to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Sydney to explain things to us.

It should not come as a huge surprise that what Heather discussed would trigger a heated discussion. For instance, her best friend since the sixth grade, Anne, stated that they are too young and too healthy to be concerned about excessive drinking. Another drinking friend named Damon claimed that since most high school students drink there is no logical reason why they should be any different. Another classmate named Keira said that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her friends. And still another friend named Carl in point of fact agreed with Heather essentially because both of his parents abused alcohol and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related difficulties.

Heather told her pals that she understood everything that they had articulated but that engaging in irresponsible drinking at such a young age really cannot be very healthy or conducive toward establishing a meaningful life. When two or three of her drinking pals asked what kind of alcohol difficulties Heather was discussing, Heather mentioned the following: alcohol-related diseases such as cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease, and cancer, and other alcohol-related problems like alcoholism, alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances).

When Heather then underscored the fact that abusive and careless drinking usually results in school, relationship, financial, and legal problems, some of her friends finally began to understand how wide-ranging and how unhealthy careless drinking can be. To be sure some of her drinking buddies became more open and started to disclose how these alcoholism and alcohol abuse effects had affected their parents and some of their friends.

After discussing some of the alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse problems that are related to irresponsible and hazardous drinking, the vast majority of her friends liked the idea about getting information online. They were, conversely, apprehensive about discussing their drinking behavior with anyone at school. As Heather heard this she thought to herself, "at least they are somewhat excited about leaning more about their irresponsible and hazardous drinking. This is a very fine start."
