It will be probable choose Windows XP as your operating-system. I would up grade with a microdrive. But keep in mind, setting up Windows XP regular way, it can get stuck in a endless loop. There is a tip to get it to setup the right way, but I've not have worked it yet. I think it would need files transferred from your typical laptop hard drive.

The best advantages to having a CF card to be a disc drive is that if the laptop gets dropped, the memory is more likely to survive the fall than a standard disc drive.

I use this adapter including a 2 GB card for the notebook. It does work nicely having Windows 98 and I have added a Wi-Fi card for World-wide-web connection.
