Longing For A Job, But Feeling Victimized By The Job Market Devoid Of An End In Sight (Is There Any Different Way)?

Endless turnover in the job market is called "churning" and many unemployed people feel victimized. This phenomenon about jobs is created by many developments and every age seems to search for easy explanations about what's transpiring in the job market. Every age hunts for a new "devil" we can point to and censure, particularly if I am the one who's lost his job.

Many of the conditions in previous times which have been used to explain job churn contain new technologies and inventions that rob jobs from human beings, or the creation of big box stores that render mom-and-pop establishments out of business. As time goes on, new services and technical knowledge bring in new ways, more effectual ways, to do old, familiar tasks, in turn taking old jobs down the tubes.

A recent "devil" was outsourcing or the process of transferring American jobs and tasks abroad into other job markets where labor is less costly. People can't blame businesses and employers for trying to cut labor costs. But when those jobs go to prisoners or illegal immigrants, there can be an complaint.

The contemporary "devil" is a bad economy, a challenging turn of events being brought about by a variety of factors which includes mortgage failures, home foreclosures and financial malfeasance among huge banks and Wall Street firms. To some extent, the American worker has a right to consider him or herself a victim of events. The truth of the matter, no matter how victimized you may feel, the bad guy or the devil is not going to deliver you or make things more desirable.

I know a guy that has posted well over 1000 resumes with not one single bite. It would seem that's all he knows to do in the current job circumstances. Still I've got to ask him how many resumes will he have to send out before he realizes he is doing a churning of your own? You know the old saying: if you don't want to go insane from doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results, then do something else.

So what can a people do that's different? Sure, keep sending out those resumes, but remember this: not only are all jobs impermanent, but ways of getting employment also come and go and have a lifespan, which ends with, "The old way just doesn't work anymore."

Here are some suggestions:

- Place a video of yourself on a website selling yourself and what you're capable of doing for others and in turn, profit.

- Talk to people, in other words, network, instead of only sending out resumes.

- Be present at job coaching groups and hear what others are doing different.

- Cultivate a clientele for a craft or service you can provide and become your own manager.

- Consider job options abroad.

- Rather than looking for a job that will be full-time, with full benefits, conceive in terms of jobs that are more like gigs, that is, one time doing of a service or task.

A desired step of mine that's distinct to do is obtain a coach who can assistant you invent outside the box and be more objective about your situation.
